Douglas Guille Nisbet was educated at Shrewsbury House School and at Marlborough College from September 1909 to July 1913 where he was a member of the Officer Training Corps.

He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 3rd (Reserve) Battalion South Wales Borderers, (Special Reserve of Officers) on the 21st of October 1914.

He is buried at Aveluy Communal Cemetery Extension Row B Grave 14 National Archive File WO 339/17277
