Information:

Andrew Hubert Fairbairn was born in 1893, the eldest son of Andrew Constant Fairbairn and Mary Ellen (née Clark) of "Arundel", 6 Upper Brighton Road, Surbiton.

 

He was Educated at Shrewsbury House, where he was awarded Honours in 1907; he subsequently attended Cheltenham College. After school, he went on to Wye Agricultural College, where he gained his diploma with distinction.

 

He embarked for France on the 11th of May 1915. He was wounded in action, near Ypres, on the 24th of May, 1915.  He died of his wounds on the 5th of June 1915, as a prisoner of war at Oost-Nieukerke, Germany - aged 21 years.
