Claud Humpston Woollatt was born at Forest Gate, West Ham, on the 15th of January 1887, the eldest son of Randal Woollatt and Edith Plantagenet Woollat of "Beauvais", Ditton Hill, Surbiton.

During the war, he served with the 8th Battalion, The Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment. He was killed on the Somme, on the 21st of August, 1916 - aged 29 years.
